Traditional
Each competitor has 40 minutes to execute a Traditional cut and style. Contestant will be judged and scored on the following:
Cut must incorporate scissors and clippers
Barbercon is looking for gentlemen cuts: Combover, Pomps, Tapers, Part and Comps, D.A’s etc.
Haircut will be graded on cuts and finished look and style.
Freestyle
Each competitor has 40 minutes to complete and will be judged and scored on the following:
Competitor has an option to do whatever he/she wants on model with no reference point such as paper, cell phone, tablet etc.
Basically only using skill and imagination.
Best Fade No Filter
Each competitor has 20 minutes to complete and will be judged and scored on the following:
Model must have a #2 or higher on the crown.
Model’s hair must be taken down to a MINIMUM of 1½.
Longer hair is welcome, as long as it’s cut or groomed with either shears, razor or a clipper guard.
Contestants will be judged on finished product of Hair.
Southside Fade
Each competitor has 40 minutes to complete and will be judged and scored on the following:
A precise Southside Fade.
The “Southside Fade” is a “fade” haircut that is short on the bottom and progressively thicker on the top of the head. For those of you that like a more technical description the “Southside Fade" is a variation of a high and tight skin fade.
Must demonstrate a complete haircut using clippers, razors, or shears. No “pre-cut” models. At least 1/4” haircut
Enhancements are not prohibited and will not add to scoring.
South side fade must represent a precision transition from extremely close to length and texture
