Barber Battles
Barbercon will be hosting barber battle competition - Traditional, Freestyle, 15 Minute Fade, and The Ultimate Braid Battle.
First place winner and second place winners will receive Barbercon trophy and gift package.
Ticket Price: $130 per category
Ticket Includes:
(1) Entry into the category competition
(1) General Admission ticket for the barber
(1) General Admission ticket for the model
Traditional
Each competitor has 40 minutes to execute a Traditional cut and style. Contestant will be judged and scored on the following: precision, level of difficulty, sanitation, and total look
Cut must incorporate scissors and clippers
Judges are looking for gentlemen cuts: combover, pompadours, tapers, part and comps, D.A’s etc.
Haircut will be graded on cuts and finished look/style
NOTE: Points will be deducted if you are not fully prepared
Freestyle
Each competitor has 40 minutes to complete and will be judged and scored on the following: precision, level of difficulty, sanitation, and total look.
Competitor has an option to do whatever he or she wants on model with no reference point such as paper, cell phone tablet etc.
Color enhancements and/or makeup are permitted. Keep in mind, color should NOT be used to cover flaws in the haircut or design.
Color should enhance, not substitute skill/precision of the haircut
Outfit or costume on model is permitted, but not required
NOTE: Points will be deducted if you are not fully prepared
15 Minute Fade
Each competitor has 15 minutes to complete the fade and will be judged and scored on the following: precision, level of difficulty, sanitation, and total look.
Speed and finished product
All 15 minutes can be used to produce the best quality haircut
Model must have at least a #2 guard length or longer before the competition begins
Longer hair and scissor techniques are welcome
NOTE: Points will be deducted if you are not fully prepared
Ultimate Braid Battle
Each competitor has 40 minutes to create their best braid work and judged and scored on the following: clean parts, clean braids, intricacy of the design, stitching and details of the braids.
No pre-made hair pieces
No looking at pictures or phone
Hair must be completely unbraided at start of battle
